With the health of our current campus community and prospective student/family visitors a priority during the pandemic, we asked our campus tour guides to temporarily unplug their mobile mics and unlace their walking shoes while we developed some virtual tour options. Are you ready for fun new ways to explore and learn more about UC Riverside? (Pssst. The answer is, “Yes!”)

Cars entering UCR campus.
  1. “UCR By Car” Driving Tour: You choose your driver (we suggest inviting a BFF or curious parent), enjoy the comforts of your car, and we’ll provide all the facts about our campus’ most noteworthy landmarks.
  1. “Campus Tour 2020” Student-Hosted Tour Video: It doesn’t get any easier than this. Watch this super fun video with UCR student, Sarah, as your Highlander host. Sure, the campus is bare in the video, but we layered on tons of fun.
  1. Zoom Webinar: Log in for a Zoom webinar where you and other students can ask questions and chat with a current UCR student, admissions counselor, and other special guests. This is a great opportunity to get into the nitty gritty and get the scoop on what it’s really like to be a Highlander from the people who make up the campus community.
  1. Virtual Tour: Using a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer, take a virtual “stroll” through housing options, student life areas, and many of our colleges and schools to see UCR through the eyes of a real Highlander.

Quick Q&A with Campus Tour Guide Manager, Mayra:

Q: What kind of questions do prospective students and their families ask?
A: “What is your favorite thing about UCR?” “Why did you choose UCR?” “Most popular major?” “What is housing like?” “What are the resources that we offer to students?” “How are online classes going?” (Just to list a few…)

Q: What UCR landmark do prospective students enjoy the most?
A: The UCR Bell Tower ... because it’s so tall.

Q: What are some "exclusively Highlander" campus facts that the general public might not know but the UCR community does?
A: There is citrus placed all over campus that students are welcome to grab! There are kumquats and oranges that students can pick straight from a tree to have as a snack on their way to class.

Q: What are Campus Tour Guides doing with their time now that they aren't giving in-person walking tours?
A: We are sad that we are not showing off our campus through in-person tours, but we are working on making our platform even more convenient for our students and updating our information to give the most updated information during our sessions.

Q: What do you want prospective students to know about Campus Tours?
A: We are here to answer any questions that you might have! We love our job and want to continue showcasing the beauty that is our campus and the wonderful programs and departments that we have, so we are more than delighted to show you!
